Despite the dedicated efforts of many individuals and organizations, the great apes are on the very edge of extinction. The editorial below is about a so called "agreement" which was suppose to get the protective commitment of 20 nations.Does this commitment include "big funding?" It is to our understanding that the great apes are still on the edge of extinction. It is reported that illegal logging is at an all-time high in the Cameroon rainforest. If this is truly the case what is the condition of the great apes as well as all other species that are being threatened by crime and displacement?
-------------------

More than 20 nations have signed an agreement aimed at saving the worlds great apes from extinction. The Kinshasa Declaration acknowledges that the root cause of poaching and deforestation is poverty and pledges to support local communities. Numbers of gorilla, chimpanzee, bonobo and orangutan have fallen sharply, and experts warn that some populations could disappear with a generation.
Looks good! Good resources here. Good stuff. I will be back!
